Thank you for visiting. This cause is very dear to me, and I'll appreciate all the support I can get! I'll start by saying I have never been diagnosed with lung cancer. This foundation was brought to my attention a few years ago when a friend of mine signed up for this 5k. From there I met my friend Diane, who is a lung cancer survivor. This year I am starting my own team in support of her.
Did you know that nearly 160,000 people die annually from lung cancer? That is more than the other three leading cancers combined (breast, prostate, and colorectal). Lung cancer accounts for 27% of all cancer deaths.
Lung cancer is the leading cancer killer among women in the United States, surpassing breast cancer in 1987.
1 in 15 people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with lung cancer in their lifetime—1 in 14 men and 1 in 17 women.
Smoking isn’t the only cause of lung cancer. Other known causes include exposure to secondhand smoke, air pollution, radon, and asbestos.
Please donate, or even better, visit my team page and join the walk!
Together we can make a difference! Best - Coni
